unsafe sex

unsafe sex

concerning anal sex.
It is my understanding that this is the most common form of transmission of HIV. My question is who is more at risk, the man or the woman? Or for that matter the same question if it were of the same sex.
Response from Mr. Kull

Actually, anal sex is not necessarily the most common form of transmission. In the United States, the majority of HIV infections comprise men who have sex with men (MSM) and injection drug users. It is assumed that among MSM, transmission most often occurs through unprotected anal sex, and probably more often from the top to the bottom (or insertive to receptive). This is only in the United States. Worldwide, heterosexual sex (which includes both vaginal and anal) accounts for the vast majority of HIV infections. There are an estimated 34.3 million people living with HIV/AIDS, 95% living in sub-Saharan Africa. The epidemic is much different in Africa than in the U.S. For instance, African men seem to have a much higher chance of getting infected through insertive vaginal sex than men in the United States. See Who gets AIDS? for more information on statistics.
HIV may be more easily transmitted through anal sex than vaginal sex for a few reasons.
1) The anal/rectal membrane tends to be more susceptible to micro-trauma (small tears in the membrane) which would facilitate transmission.
2) Some studies suggest that certain types of cells more prone to infection reside in the mucosal lining of the rectum.
3) Due to trauma, there is a greater likelihood for blood to be present during anal sex, increasing the chance for transmission to the top/insertive partner.
In general, receptive partners during sex (ones who are more likely to get more infected fluid in their own body) are the ones at most risk. But remember, there are a lot of variables that effect transmission. Use a condom and water-based lubricant to reduce your chances.

human disease

image from Wikipedia

Human Diseases have existed since the existence of man. The diseases have affected the human body in many ways. The diseases are not always bad for a human being as they keep the immune system active and enhance the capability of fighting against the external factors like Virus, bacteria and parasites. A disease is commonly defined as an abnormal condition that causes pain and hinders the regular functioning of the body. Human disease can broadly be classified into two major categories; Physical Diseases and Mental Diseases. Physical Disease or disorder is easy to detect and treat as it becomes visible and has some symptoms. Although, the mental diseases also have symptoms but it is always difficult to treat the mental disorders as they require highest level of skill and patience to treat them. Treating a disorder that has affected the brain of a patient is never easy and the changing life styles have resulted in increase in the number of people suffering from mental disorders by a huge margin.

The medical science has found cure for most of the diseases except Aids, Swine Flu and Cancer. Even Cancer can be cured if it is detected in the early stages. AIDS has emerged as a modern age evil and has killed thousands of people so far. The medical science is now taking help of the natural products and herbal medicines to cure the incurable diseases.

However, the best way to keep the diseases away from the body is to live a healthy life that includes nutritious food and regular exercising. Meditating, including protein rich food items in our daily diet will strengthen the immune system of the body and enable it to fight against any kind of diseases. Stress management techniques like YOGA must be practiced to avoid any mental stress and mental diseases.

How Much Water Are You Drinking?

Adequate Water Intake - How Much Water Are You Drinking?

Did you know that you can increase good health by making
sure that you get enough water? Yes plain water that has
been purified in some way. The water most of us get from the
tap is full of chemicals that is bad for our health. Do
not drink tap water, unless you have your own well, which
you know is not contaminated.

Drinking water is essential for a healthy body. Water regulates body
temperature, lubricates joints, keeps skin youthful and
muscles strong.

Water is present in every cell and tissue and involved in so
many biological functions: digestion, absorption,
circulation and excretion. It helps us with keeping our
hormones balanced and our brain chemistry Relies on water
for proper balance. Water gives us energy and strengthens
the immune system.

Most people are not drinking enough water and are semi
dehydrated. Your body cannot work at optimum level without
the water it needs.

What happens when you don't drink enough water?

I won't go into all the details, but do want to mention a
few things here. All the things mentioned above that water
helps keep in balance and lubricated are affected when you
don't drink water. You will not feel as well as you possibly
could, your body does not have what it needs for good health
and so your health declines.

Here is one example of what I mean: When you do not get
enough water throughout the day, your body just does not
have the needed fluid and sometimes tries to pull it from
where it can and distribute it to the places that need
hydration the most. One place that water is pulled from is
your digestive system. When you do not drink enough water it
leads to constipation.

As we all know, constipation is not a good thing. Besides
the uncomfortable, sick feeling there are other things going
on. Transit time slows down and some of the toxins and
poisons dumped into the digestive system begin to
recirculate.
If you do become constipated, I would suggest using Natural Moves. Natural Moves is a 100% natural, safe and effective herbal remedy to stop constipation naturally without risk of dehydration,
mineral imbalance or dependency.
Natural Moves Tablets can be used both for chronic and occasional constipation. The herbs used in Natural Moves promote healthy digestion and act as a good liver tonic, avoiding the risk of dependency and side effects associated with some other laxative products. Click here for Natral Moves Tablets.

As these toxins build up they store in your tissues causing
ill health. Kidneys separate water from the waste in the
blood, so there is a strain put on them when toxicity
levels increase. Along with that the Liver then has quite a
bit more to do, trying to detoxify the system as a whole.

Drinking water is the most important drink you can consume for good health. With this being the case, I suggest that you drink
one quart of water for every 50 pounds of weight. So if you
weighed 150 pounds, you would need to drink 3 quarts of
water.

I also find it best if a person will actually measure the
needed water out, into a container each day. Other wise
most people lose track of how much they did drink. So they
usually do not drink enough water for the day.

Why not put this information to use today? No matter where
your health is at this point, consuming drinking water in the required amount will aid you in reaching better health and maintaining it.

Fainting is a curious phenomenon

Fainting is a curious phenomenon—that a person could lose control of their functions and the body temporarily suspend consciousness. Under what circumstances could this happen?

Well, there are many: if a person is disposed to hysteria the slightest excitement could trigger a fainting episode; fright or hunger; during menstruation for women; weak and anaemic people could have fainting spells; chills or exertion, strenuous physical activity; exposure to poisonous fumes; underlying diseases can cause fainting such as high blood pressure, heart failure, haemorrhage; or if any organ or the brain has been injured; dehydration; low blood sugar; a stroke or seizure; and so on.

Fainting occurs because of a decrease in the blood flow to the brain and so there is a temporary loss of consciousness. It is known medically as syncope and can occur in anybody of any age from a child to an elderly person.

If you are able to detect a fainting spell coming on then you can stave it off by sitting down and putting your head between your knees so that there is an increased flow of oxygen to the brain. If you have to attend to an unconsciousness person then lay them flat down on the floor and keep their feet raised. You could then sprinkle cold water on them or hold smelling salts such as ammonia spirits to their nose to restore consciousness, but don’t, on any account, make them swallow any medicines or liquids. If they don’t come around within a few minutes then it’s best to get them medical attention immediately. If they regain consciousness then let them keep lying down for another 15 minutes or so and then get up gradually.

While the cause of the fainting episode may not be serious a person may be injured when falling into a faint. Some people may be aware that a fainting fit is imminent and can immediately lie down but not all are similarly warned by their body. Whatever the cause of the syncope, a peroson should be evaluated by a doctor so that they are protected from a repeated loss of consciousness. If you are a victim of this disorder then consult a physician immediately. You will be asked to go over your medical history thoroughly and also undergo a complete physical examination. Almost always, the symptoms present can be enough to diagnose why there is syncope but otherwise some tests may be prescribed. Generally heart disease may be suspected but the tests will be tailored according to the symptoms described. An echocardiogram, ECG, Holter recording, and Tilt table testing are some of the tests that may be suggested.

A patient is treated for fainting or syncope depending on the cause—and treatment could range from something as simple as a change in diet or daily medication to surgery or installing a pacemaker.

A fainting spell sounds innocuous but don’t ignore it even if it happens only once. It could be an indicator of something as serious as heart disease. See a doctor and establish the cause. Do this for a loved one also if they don’t take it seriously.
